In the heart of wild, windswept Patagonia lives a beautiful bird, the Hooded Grebe. It’s one of the rarest birds in South America. There are less than 800 of them and they live only on remote high plateaux of Patagonia. What threats does it face? Who is working to save it? Will they succeed?

Watch this short film to find out and discover its amazing courtship dance, filmed for the first time in its entirety.

The Living Wild team is a Species Champion supporting the Hooded Grebe as part of the BirdLife Preventing Extinctions programme.
